Conservative Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued an arrest warrant for multiple Democratic lawmakers after they left the state to hold a rally against discriminatory voting legislation. Last Thursday Governor Abbott filed a civil-enforcement action and a criminal-contempt arrest warrant for Senator José Menéndez, House Representative Mary Gonzalez, Representative Ramon Romero, Representative Armando Walle, Senator José Menéndez, Representative Terry Canales, and Representative Cesar Blanco. “The voters of Texas deserve to have their voices heard and to be able to exercise their most basic constitutional right, which is to vote, free of discrimination or intimidation,” Governor Abbott said in a statement.

The Texas law requires people to prove their citizenship when they register to vote. The new law was a primary issue in the heated race between Abbott and Paxton, the Republican attorney general. In an emergency move, Paxton sent out a request to local officials to send election judges to registration offices during normal business hours in case the law is implemented, according to the Texas Tribune. The order was sent just hours before midnight on Monday, October 9. Early voting began October 22 and was slated to end on October 27. The final early voting hours are available at the below link.

Democrats in Texas apparently thought it would be a good idea to abandon the state during one of the busiest travel periods of the year so they could avoid voting on a new voter identification law. The legislation requires that voters present photo identification in order to cast a ballot. But when the state’s legislature reconvened last week, Republican lawmakers passed the new law by a wide margin, leading Democrats to become convinced that it was written in a way that would discriminate against minorities and others who did not have photo identification. As a result, a contingent of state politicians decided to abandon the state so that they wouldn’t be able to cast a vote for the legislation.

Patti Davis, Author and daughter of the dead Ronald Reagan, and noted liberal Michael Moore joined MSNBC’s Joy Reid this morning to discuss their new joint book, but not long into their conversation Davis interrupted Reid to ask about the Democrat exodus from Texas to Washington DC. Well, over a hundred of Texas’ Democratic leaders flew to D.C. to wait for the new voter laws to pass and sign the Demexit petition. But Governor Greg Abbott (R) has sent out an arrest warrant for all them and says the only way he will bring them back is if they hand in their passports. Republican Rick Perry signed the legislation while Sarah Palin accused the GOP of denying voters their rights. Abbott called the Demexit petition a “publicity stunt,” but the folks that signed it didn’t see it that way.

Richards sent her letter to Abbott about 20 minutes after the debate began. “You’re hearing from many who are disappointed that the bill did not make it to the floor,” she said.

The state party has formally asked its members to cancel their flights. “I hope the vast majority of you do cancel your flights,” party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa told a gathering of supporters in Austin this weekend. “If not, then do it in the next few days.” A number of the state’s top Democratic officials, including Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, have criticized the new Texas voter ID law. Patrick called for an emergency special session of the Legislature to replace the law with a compromise solution that would allow the same identification required under the original bill to be used. The federal government already rejected that plan earlier this year because it violates federal law.

Arrest Warrant Issued

Austin, TX – Governor Greg Abbott has issued an arrest warrant for a Democratic Senator from San Antonio who left the state to vote on the most restrictive Voter ID bills in the country. Governor Abbott’s chief of staff said, “In an effort to prevent vote fraud, one Senator who voted for an unconstitutional voter ID law and an anti-choice abortion ban jetted out of state last week so he would not be part of a Senate voting session. These bills have had a disastrous effect on the lives of hundreds of thousands of Texans and will only continue to do so if they become law. The actions of this Senator are an insult to every Texas family and are an affront to the fundamental principles of fairness and equality for which the great State of Texas stands.

The decision came after U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos held that the three laws “target African-Americans with almost surgical precision” and violated the voting rights of the minority voters and Texas voters.

Before the vote, a state Democratic Party official said a few of his candidates may not make the trip due to family commitments, but did not detail which ones. It’s unclear whether they included state Sen. JosĂ© RodrĂguez, who told the Observer he was on a private flight to D.C. The Texas Observer reported: Asked about his travel plans, RodrĂguez said he was en route to D.C. for an event with the Latino Victory Fund, which, like the League of United Latin American Citizens, is critical of the voter ID bills.

Texas Democrats Refuse to Return

Leftists can’t be bribed or intimidated into returning to Texas. So, they have been given permission by Texas Governor to remain in DC. The arrest warrant given to the fleeing politicians said if they didn’t return to Texas by June 18, “Their names would be forwarded to the Attorney General and the Collin County District Attorney for criminal prosecution.” TOM ASHTON: Some Texas Democrats staying in the Washington D.C. area now say they don’t plan to return. Lee Miringoff is the Director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion. He told Fox & Friends that Democrats are voting in DC even though they claim they want to support the redistricting reforms in the state. As for the move by Texas Gov. Abbott to sign an arrest warrant for them?

Who is paying for their private jets, hotels and food while they are in DC?

Obama is calling on Congress to make it harder for Americans to vote. CNBC reported: Texas House Democrats planned to head to Washington on Thursday to protest new voter restrictions that have drawn national scrutiny ahead of the November presidential election. The Republican-dominated statehouse on Tuesday evening approved a controversial voter identification law, in which voters are asked for state-issued identification at the polls. Supporters say the measure is intended to protect the voting rights of Texans who have none. But opponents say the rule will discourage minorities from voting and have called it an effort to disenfranchise minority voters.

Conclusion

Texas Republicans are serious about voter fraud and integrity in elections. The Democrat distraction ploy to stop voter fraud is going to fail. Democrats will have to accept that their corrupt voting systems are so broken that they have to flee to Washington DC so they can’t cast their vote. Democrats’ lament that they can’t vote is like PETA saying they can’t eat meat because they’re vegetarian. It’s a LIE and a CYA maneuver that can’t be proven.
