Madrid residents were seen skiing though the city’s snow-covered streets on Saturday as storm ‘Filomena’ has brought the heaviest snowfall the city has seen in decades.
Locals could be seen traversing the snow-coated streets with some of them bringing out skies and sledges to enjoy the large amount of snow that has been brought by the storm.
Local authorities have issued warnings urging their citizens to stay at home as four people have been reported dead and thousands have been rescued after being stuck in ring roads in the city overnight.
Several train services and flights have been disrupted across the country due to the storm and schools and universities in Madrid will reportedly be shut on Monday and Tuesday as a preventive measure.
